We all know Hair Extensions have a little bit of a reputation – Old School ‘The Only Way is Essex’ comes to mind, and if that’s your style then there is no judgment here. But for brides envisioning a natural, boho, classy, sophisticated, simple, chic, or intricately detailed hairstyle—essentially, any bridal style—hair extensions could be the essential ingredient in achieving the hair of your dreams.
Now, if you're a bride-to-be who has never considered extensions and is sceptical, thinking, "No way do I want to wear extensions. I just want to look like the best version of me," I urge you to give this post five minutes of your time. Let me persuade you why you should consider them. Rest assured, you're in safe hands with a team dedicated to encouraging your authenticity on your wedding day.
There is no better way than showing you, so on my most recent portfolio day, I thought I would do exactly that on my gorgeous model Rebecca.
STYLE: Chic/ Sleek half up Half down
CURL TYPE: Soft / relaxed Hollywood Wave
HAIR TYPE: Thick
HAIR LENGTH: Between shoulder blades and waist.
Without Extensions: As you can see, I’ve managed to create a lovely sleek volume that’s carefully structured with the half-up section and because Rebecca’s hair is thick, I’ve had enough hair to create a balanced area around the crown. However, in the bottom section, lacks density, resulting in wispy, less-defined waves with noticeable gaps.
Obviously, with curls, hair always appears shorter, so the length has been taken up a little bit too. Over the day, the waves may drop, the hair will rub on the dress material, and it look messy and straggly quickly.
The bow (Which also demonstrates what a veil would sit like) appears unbalanced resulting in taking too much attention away from the overall style. The side of the hair also becomes much thinner, this is much less flattering around the tops of the ears as it is less balanced and often means we can be less generous with face-framing.
With Extensions: The results speak volumes, but let's take a moment to appreciate how natural they look. I used two wefts of clip-in extensions, perfectly blended and colour-matched to Rebecca's natural hair.
The extensions elevate the look, ensuring balance and creating a flattering shape from all angles, and it creates balance with the Bow ensuring a more harmonious look, rather than the bow being the centre of attention. The bottom section appears fuller with more defined waves, enhancing the overall aesthetic.
The extensions also ensure the longevity of the style, maintaining the waves' integrity without compromising length.
Are you starting to reconsider extensions? Here's everything you need to know:
Achieving Your Dream Hairstyle: Many Pinterest inspiration images feature extensions for texture, volume, length, or fullness. Even if you have long, thick hair, extensions might still be necessary to perfect your chosen style.
Endless Possibilities: Extensions open up a world of styling possibilities, allowing for braids, twists, intricate details, or your dream style, all while maintaining a natural appearance.
Confidence: Enhancing your natural hair with extensions can boost your confidence on your wedding day, ensuring your hair looks exactly as you envisioned it.
What Type of Extensions Do We Recommend?
Clip-in extensions offer flexibility without a long-term commitment. They allow precise application and can be tailored to your chosen style. Semi-permanent options like Nanos, tapes, and weaves can limit styling possibilities and be difficult to hide. Clip-ins provide control over the amount of hair used and offer options like nano clip-ins for additional thickness around the front.
Hair extensions can be a valuable tool for achieving your dream wedding hairstyle. However, the decision is yours. Your hair and makeup are a collaboration between you and your stylist, so we must give you the information to ensure you make an informed and best decision for you.
If you have any questions or concerns about extensions, please don't hesitate to ask your stylist or get in touch with us. We're here to guide you every step of the way.
